Infidelity

When does infidelity begin? When you start looking at someone other than your partner?, or when you get intimate with them?, watch porn or masturbate over someone other than your partner? theses are just some of the things we discussed in lecture today and my answer to the question when does cheating start is when a person gets intimate or gets sexual pleasure (Masturbating) from someone who isn't their partner i would class as cheating.

I think infidelity, because it involves lying and disloyalty. I also think that if you commit yourself to being with a person you should do just that or not be with them at all. Research has shown that many people cheat on their partners which i think is outrageous as one of Gods Ten Commandments says "You shall not commit adultery".
From previous research 57% of men & 54% of women have admitted to committing infidelity in a relationship.

Lies

In Class we discussed lies and lying can can lies ever be good. Most lies are for personal gain whereas others are for the purpose of avoiding trouble. Some would say that a person ill need to lie to get by in life, but i disagree with that statement. In my eyes a lie is a lie no matter how people try and define lies into categories such as a 'Big Lie' & 'White Lie'.
Another reason why i would say lying is wrong, because of what Saint Paul teaches us in the bible "Do not lie to one another" and also one of the ten commandments is not to lie
"Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour"

Masterbation

In classed we spoke on masterbation and what we thought of it. personally i find masterbation wrong and disgusting, because it uses the body in an improper way and i find sitting by yourself thinking of having sex with a person when your nto and giving yourself that feeling sad. In class we discussed the social view of masterbation and in the 19th century it was a disese, btu in the 20th century its a cure so the social view of masterbation has changed in some peoples eyes, but not all. In Britain a 2007 survey on masterbation found that in individuals aged 16 to 44, 95% of men and 71% of women masturbated at some point in their lives. 73% of men and 37% of women reported masturbating in the four weeks before their interview, while 53% of men and 18% of women reported masturbating in the previous seven days.

Shoplifting

In one of the lectures we looked into stealing and theft such as shoplifting. In the discussions i said that my view was that it was wrong under any circumstances no matter if you are starving and need to eat. I don't believe stealing is wrong, because it's against the law of our country, but it is against God's law. One of God's ten commandments is 'Thou shalt not steal' situated in Deuteronomy 5:19.

Bad Comedians 23/04/2010

In class we talked about comedians who people may think cross the line with certain jokes. In the lesson i learnt that jokes about other nationalities or people from differ culturally. Most black comedians will make jokes about their own race most times using the word nigga, but there is always a message behind the joke such as to get Black people to change their ways or make fun of something that they all do. This is the type of comedy that people who are not Black or aware of their social behaviours may find offensive or may feel uneasy about laughing about the joke, because they are not of that race. In lesson i noticed that some jokes mainly by the White comedians were being very stereotypical about how people view a culture or country for example (Irish people being drunk jokes )or (blonde's are dumb) some people may find this funny, but those who are at the centre of the jokes may find this type of comedy bad/offensive.

At the end of the day jokes are meant to cause no harm and are made to be laughed at. Jokes aimed at certain groups of people can be taken as offensive to the aimed at group. I have listed some references to some jokes give me feedback about what you think about the comedians jokes and do they cross the line personally i think there funny and some send clear messages through laughter. I tend to notice that some jokes are deemed offensive when they are aimed at a group but i tend to find some jokes do hold a few 'truths'

Prostitution 20/04/2010

Prostitution is the act or practice of engaging in sex acts for hire. Prostitution has been referred to be 'the worlds oldest profession', because it has been documented to happen before even the Aztecs. Prostitution is even mentioned in the bible and God makes is clear in many scriptures that prostitution is a sexual sin.
In class i made it clear that i was against prostitution, because in 1Corinthians 6:9-10 of the bible it says
"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." This means that prostitution is wrong and those who commit this sin will not enter the gates of heaven unless they repent, because this crime can be forgiven as God did with the prostitute Rahab.
Anything against God is wrong so surely prostitution is definately wrong , and if we want to keep our bodies clean and free from sin a beautiful temple for God we must not pursuse this no matter teh situtaion.

Smoking 19/04/2010

I do not smoke and haven't taken up the habit, but as a curious teenager like most i have tried a cigarette. My parents being Christians indoctrinated smoking as a bad from a child which deterred me from doing it, although i have tried a cigarette the reason i never pick up thew habit is that i find it pointless. The reason i find smoking pointless is that in my opinion sucking on the end of a cigarette to exhale smoke when the money for the pack could be spent on something more useful like food. Aside from thinking buying a pack of 20 cigarettes for over £3 is a waste of money to smoke the health issues is another reason.
Smoking has been proven to be damaging to health and cause illnesses such as: cardiovascular disease, coronary thrombosis, cancer and many more illnesses. Smoking also makes its 'victims' crave for nicotine and stopping smoking can create with drawl symptoms. According to statistics smokers take 25% more sick days than non-smokers, smoking worsens asthma, smokers are also twice as likely to get macular degeneration.
Smoking has so many more than i mentioned bad effects on the human body it can be understood why smoking is seen as not a good thing the reason why i think it isn't wiped out is, because millions of people smoke around the world so it won't be easy to shut down and would cause an uproar. In the past it was seen as a cool thing to do and many people were smoking and adverts were there encouraging smoking as well as many famous people seen on posters with cigarettes. As i said before in the post i am a christian and in Christianity 1Corinthians 3:16 -17 its says "Don't you know you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him; for Gods temple is sacred, and you are that temple.
Therefore if i smoke and bring all these hazardous chemicals that God did not plant into my body am i not defiling his temple?, and making myself unclean, because the Holy Spirit cannot dwell in a dirty vessel.
